There is something feeble and a little contemptible about a man who cannot face the perils of life without the help of comfortable myths. - Bertrand Russell

Here I will occasionally post my opinions about various topics. If you have a comment about any of my ramblings, please contact me and you might even get your comment posted here.

    Religion
    Not for me, thanks.

You don't have to be a slave to sin! Just accept Jesus as your personal saviour!

That is what you will hear Christians say over and over again... and what I used to say in my younger years. After many years of spiritually seeking my true beliefs, I eventually ended up throwing the baby out with the bath water (figuratively speaking of course). God/Jesus hasn't been any part of my life for about 8 years now and I am no worse off for it.

The religious are slaves to fear of eternal damnation. "Sin" is all about bad choices. Education, improving yourself and understanding others leads to good choices. The religious measure sin as only what they interpret it to be from the bible, making them be able to get away with a lot of bad choices while under the delusion that they are making good choices.

It bothers me that as a whole, western society is currently so controlled by religious elements, especially Christian ones. The western Christian agenda is perceived by myself as being anti-science, intolerant and full of victim mentality. And this in a time when the current top levels of US and Canadian government claim to be Christian and the majority of the population claims a belief in God. How exactly are Christians being persecuted today?!

Western Christianity is broken. It is in an embarrassing and shameful state and the Christians that may seem more balanced are not doing anything about it. I am glad I am no longer part of any of it.

    US President Bush
Bush, the dictator, war-monger, and terrorist in the name of God.

Because he really is misguided. It really is sad.
The people can always be bought to the bidding of the leaders. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked.

Are You A Right Wing Extremist? Here's how to tell.

    * You still think the war in Iraq was justified.
    * You'll use any excuse possible to avoid acknowledging the achievements of civil rights leaders.
    * You think calling someone a liberal is an insult.
    * You think the economy is doing well.
    * You still believe George Bush is honest.
    * You think the mainstream media is biased against conservatives.
    * You think the right wing media is fair and balanced.
    * You think a president should be impeached for being pleasured by a frumpy intern but not for sending thousands soldiers to their graves in a pre-emptive war based on misleading intel.
    * Even after reading the Constitution you still think it was based on Christianity.
    * You think that supporting the troops means putting a bumper sticker on your mini-van.
    * You find the term "Happy Holidays" offensive.
    * You think AM radio talk shows are news.
    * You think religion in schools has been banned.
    * You think the phrase, "Guns don't kill people. People kill people," makes sense.
    * You use terms like "commie pinko," "Marxist" and "fag" to describe your neighbor who votes democrat.
    * You find the ACLU's defense of the Bill of Rights to be offensive.
    * You can't see the irony in the term "intelligent design".
